The Approach to Weddings

My work is about real life. I approach each subject and assignment with the goal of capturing life and moments as they are. I photograph as an observer, not a director. I try to stay in the background and allow events to happen naturally. That allows you to live your day, and allows me to make the most meaningful images! For weddings, I like to arrive when you first start getting ready in the morning, and stay till the very end of the reception. I want to be there for everything! It's not possible to capture moments if you're not there to witness them. The extra time I spend with you in the morning will pay off big time later in the day. After a while you'll forget that I'm there and you'll stop paying attention to the camera. That's when great moments happen! Most couples want some artistic and fun portraits as well as real photojournalism. At weddings, I love to spend time with just the bride and groom making images. Often this is the first chance you will get to be alone as a new couple. We'll take a little time to step away from the crowd to some beautiful locations. I'll give you some loose directions and coaching, and we will let moments happen naturally. What a great chance to make images that will last a lifetime!
