To Trash Or Not To Trash

>> Friday 26 June 2009

Fancy a photo of you going for a swim in your wedding gown? Trash the Dress, a.k.a. Day After Shoot, is a recent development in modern wedding photography. It allows you, the bride, to capture images that would have been impossible on your wedding day and to take your wedding gown on a second outing.
On your wedding day, you’ll likely spend a fair amount of time lifting your dress over mud puddles and avoiding red wine. It took ages to find the right dress and you’ll want it to remain pristine. Trash the Dress sessions throw this caution to the wind; your dress is taken on a fashion shoot on a beach, in the woods, wherever you want. You and your dress, which would have only been worn on your wedding day, get another chance to capture great, fashion images.
A popular location for Trash the Dress shoots is the beach. Taking your dress for a swim and conjuring up “From Here to Eternity” styled scenes can make for some great images. I’m based on the south coast and the beaches in the summers make for beautiful shots. Urban locations, with gritty graffiti and exposed construction sites, make for a lovely juxtaposition of bride and scenery. Accessories like wellies add to the mix.
The shoot itself is a lot of fun. Trash the Dress sessions are lighthearted and relaxed as you’re not worried about getting chocolate fondant on your train. Instead, you and your photographer will focus on capturing beautiful and adventurous portraits. This is not your mother’s wedding photography.
“Trash” the Dress is a bit of a misnomer. Unless you take scissors to your gown, in all likelihood your dress will merely require a dry clean. In the sessions I’ve shot, one trip to the cleaners (which is typically necessary after the wedding anyway) and the dress looked new.
So, ready to trash your dress?
Trash the Dress sessions cost as little as £99 and LemonSplash Photography can even arrange for you to have your dress cleaned afterwards. We also make this promise to you. If you are not happy with the images we take then we will not charge you for our time. For a more detailed quote and to discuss your ideas for your shoot then contact us via our website at http://www.lemonsplash.co.uk/
As always lemonSplash Photography can confirm that no wedding dresses were harmed in the making of these images which is in line with our ethical and environmental credentials.

Trash The Dress Photo Shoots

>> Saturday 20 June 2009

The idea of trashing your wedding dress after hundreds of hours of stress from planning a wedding has some mass appeal to some very non-traditional brides. They can run around a beach getting wet and dirty and allow a professional photographer to capture very unique imagery of them as a bride. The images are something that most brides could never dream of having on a normal wedding day, and that is it’s biggest appeal. The Brides traditional choice is to tuck away their dress – never wearing them again, never having fun in them again. Some brides feel they are saving it for their daughters. How often does that become a reality? So why not do something that's fun, creative, and down right dirty with the dress.

So now your interested the big question is what does it cost? Sessions start from as little as £99 for up to 20 images presented on a copyright free CD. We can also produce canvas prints and ultra modern prints mounted on acrylic that leap out from your wall. LemonSplash Photography can also produce a pictorial storybook of your day together with some fine prints. To round all this off we will also arrange for your dress to be dry cleaned and returned to you looking as good as the day you put it on for your wedding. You can contact LemonSplash Photography through our website at http://www.lemonsplash.co.uk/
All our consultations are free and informal. There we can discuss all your ideas and help you to achieve the images you never dreamed possible. As always no wedding dresses have been harmed during the making of these images.

Why Trash The Dress

>> Friday 19 June 2009

Not for everyone this but every bride has her own reasons! Many of those who embrace this increasingly popular trend are creatives who know that the real commitment made to their partners is in their hearts and souls. The material trappings associated with the process of getting married, such as a wedding dress stored in moth balls, do not embody this commitment. These brides appreciate the fun and irony of the trashing of their 'precious' dresses - especially if they can have the whole process captured in beautiful images.
LemonSplash Photography are now offering Trash the Dress photo shoots for as little as £100 for 20 images on a copyright free cd or complimentary sessions when one of our bespoke wedding album packages are purchased. so there has never been a better time to unleash that adventurous spirit in you and have a day full of fun and laughter with some stunning images to remember the day by. As always LemonSplash Photography can confirm that no wedding dresses have been harmed during the making of these images!!

Trash The Dress

>> Wednesday 17 June 2009

With the vows taken and the honeymoon over, most brides shake down their wedding dress, wrap it in acid-free tissue paper and pack it away, never to be seen again. But there is another option. A growing number of brave brides have chosen to throw caution to the wind and their big-day dresses to the elements. The idea behind Trash the Dress is simple - instead of letting your gown fester in the back of a cupboard, slip it back on for a photo shoot where it gets wet and muddy and you end up with some distinctive photographs that are a world away from traditional twee wedding portraits.
"Trash my wedding dress are you mad, do you know how much it cost, how much I love it".
First of all its not about destroying your beautiful wedding dress, its about creating arty, unusual and fabulous post wedding shots in locations you just would not have dared to go on your wedding day. Now LemonSplash Photography know this wont be every ones taste but we can assure you that to date no wedding dress has been harmed in the making of these images.

Happy Clients

>> Friday 29 May 2009

lemonSplash Photography's last wedding of 2008 was held on board HMS Warrior. Keith Lintott and Sue Hunt had chosen this venue because of their connection to the sea and in particular to Selsey Lifeboat as both work in one capacity or another for the lifeboat as volunteers. Their ceremony was held in the Captains Cabin and the reception was at a venue in Selsey. Having spoken to a number of photographers about photographing on board ship I quickly discovered that although it is a dream location it is also very difficult to shoot on board because of the low levels of light and low beamed ceilings. To make matters worse for me it was also a gloriously sunny day and all the hull interiors were painted with brilliant reflective white paint not to mention the highly polished brasses. Typical royal navy!!

The Album has now been delivered and runs to some 96 pages with over 200 images showing the story of their day. Below are the kind comments they left for me when they opened their album.
"The album is absolutely superb and we are both speechless having looked at it. We can't thank you enough - you made a very happy day even more memorable. Keith & Sue
